I put a spell on you.

I've had the song "I put a spell on you" by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, in my head all damn day. Jay's voice is amazing. check the youtubes

The song also makes me wanna watch Stranger Than Paradise again because Jim Jarmusch is the man (most of the time) and Screamin' Jay fits the film perfectly. (This is the best trailer I could find so just ignore the subtitles.)

This Is England (Shane Meadows, 2006)

This Is England is a movie about a group of English skin heads and more specifically a young boy who recently joins them. Unfortunately most of the movie is pretty forgettable. Despite its lack of re-watchability, the film has a good story, believable characters and the soundtrack has a pretty cool reggae cover of Louie Louie. I read theirs gonna be a t.v show made including the same characters from the film. Sounds like something I can get downwith

fall

had to take the links down due to a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown notification i was sent.Lame. At least I know someone read this blog.maybe

Some Albums that remind me of fall.

upon recent listens, each Pedro The Lion album reminds me of a different season. I declare this one their fall record. Also, David Bazan's really good at making albums to walk to.

Pedro The Lion- It's Hard To Find A Friend

Mr beast reminds me of seeing the leaves change and fall into backyards from the LIRR and more so riding the Metro North to Poughkeepsie a few years ago.

Mogwai- Mr Beast

First, I find this album a lot more enjoyable and passionate than Loveless. So if you haven't heard this one or given it a chance, you should. Second, this record reminds me of some depressing evenings smoking/drinking on the coach with a cold breeze coming through the window. uhhhhhhhhh wompwompwomp.yeah. Listening to it nowadays is comforting for some reason. anyways its a real good record and you should get it if you don't have it already. duh

Slowdive-Souvlaki

this afternoon I listened to Souvlaki for the first time in a while. Its one of my favorite albums ever and is one of, if not the best album in the shoegaze genre. Figured Id upload it.

trailers

super excited to see these

Enter The Void (Gasper Noe) looks amazing. Made by the same guy that directed Irreversible, which is aesthetically one of my favorites. Its a limited release but i heard its also playing on demand so, I'm either making the trek to NY to see this or finding someone with cable.

I'm Still Here (Casey Affleck). A documentary about Joaquin Phoenix. Acting or not, this is gonna be worth seeing. The poster is up at The Charles so hopefully I'll see this soon.

Black Swan (Darren Aronofsky) I use to be a big fan of Aronofsky but not as much anymore. It comes out in december so ill prob see it then. I'm hoping its good but i have my doubts.

Howl (Rob Epstein,Jeffrey Friedman) Big fan of Ginsberg . Definitely gonna see this, might just download it but well see.

jams.

Two albums I've recently downloaded and thought were worth mentioning. (click the titles)

Evenings- North Dorm (pretty true to the name, an electronic album made in a dorm and sounds like a warm evening.)

Tyler, The Creator- BASTARD (along with EARl, Tyler is a Member of OFWGKTA aka odd future wolf gang kill them all. Dudes are solegit. You should get this and EARl like now.)

The Celebration (Festen) (uncredited-Thomas Vinterberg, 1998)

Another good Dogme. The shots really made the movie. The camera had an interesting self-awareness to it making the film truly lively and confrontational. I think Festen drilled home my understanding and appreciation for Dogme 95's manifesto and its intentions.
